Principal Message

Four Heroes Principal John Mitcher

Hello Top Dog Families!

Although Winter Break is just around the corner, we are not yet counting down the days—instead, we at Four Heroes celebrate each day as an opportunity for growth and look forward to learning together during our 15 school days in December!

Our attendance motto at Four Heroes is “Less than 8 is really great!” This saying reminds our community that if students are absent less than 8 days in the entire school year, they will meet our school goal of attending 96% of the year! Attendance is crucial to learning and we hope that you continue to support your child’s success by helping them be here every school day.

Throughout the month of December, 2nd-5th graders will take their winter MAP assessment. We are excited to celebrate the growth our Top Dogs have made in both math and reading. Please look forward to a schedule to come home from your child’s teacher to see each classroom’s specific testing dates. A good night’s sleep, a nice breakfast and an encouraging pep-talk are all important pieces of your student’s performance!

Our annual Holiday Performance will be on Thursday, December 19th from 12:45-2:00. We invite you to come and enjoy festive songs and performances from our students with this student-led event. There will even be a fun ukulele performance by a group of students who have chosen to learn to play this instrument during their recess! We hope to see you there.

Did you hear the Clover Park School District will be placing a Replacement Educational Programs and Operations Levy on the February 11, 2020 ballot? This levy is to continue to fund critical learning and replace the expiring levy that was approved in 2016. This replacement levy will provide funding to continue transportation for our after school STEM and math extended learning programs, enrich our music and arts program, maintain our class sizes, and promote student readiness with textbooks and curriculum. If you are not yet a registered voter, please ask Mrs. Villanueva in our front office for a voter registration form; we are happy to support you through that process. Make sure your vote counts!

As the holiday season approaches, we want to share how grateful we are for your ongoing collaboration and commitment to your student’s success. It takes a village, and we are thankful to have an amazing community of leaders and learners to work with for the betterment of our students!

Sincerely,

John A. Mitchell
