Principal Message

Four Heroes Principal John Mitcher

We hope that you have had a fantastic summer. As we near the beginning of our upcoming year, I am excited for the opportunities for learning, growth, and leadership that await all of our TOP DOG students.

As we get set to begin the year, We really want to emphasize that the process of learning is so much more effective when there is a solid partnership between school and home. Some strategies you can use to help strengthen this collaborative effort include:

  • Contact the school when you have questions or need us to know something about your child.
  • Please Check backpacks daily for notes coming home from the classroom and respond as needed.
  • Create a time for your child to read or practice word work at home, roughly 20 minutes per day for grades
  • K-2 . 30 minutes for grades 3-5.
  • Ask your child about his/her day. Asking questions like “What did you read about today?”or "What was your favorite part about today?” or even "What was the most exciting thing you learned?"
  • Please make sure and plan to Attend parent/teacher conferences.
  • Volunteer within the school when possible.

If you are interested in ways that you can become active with your child's education or the school-at-large, please contact your child's teacher or the office.

Student Drop off/pick-up area is located in the back of the building.

Meet and Greet, 1st Day of School and Back to School Night:

Meet and Greet Night at Four Heroes  is scheduled for Tuesday, August 29th from 4:00-6:00p.m. This is a time for you and your child to drop off his/her school supplies, see the classroom, and say hello to your child's teacher. This night is not intended to be a time for conferencing.

Our first day of school for 1st - 5th will be Wednesday, August 28th .

The first day for All Day Kindergarten classes will be Tuesday, September 3rd. Research shows that students who attend school every day for the first 20 days of the school year set a pattern of strong attendance for the rest of the school year. To promote better attendance, students who have perfect attendance for the first 20 days of school will be entered into a drawing. We will choose 20 different students to invite their parent/guardian to a special luncheon! The classroom with the most days of perfect attendance will get a special treat as well! Let’s #BePresent this school year!

Kinder Orientation dates:

Wednesday, August 28th 8:30-10:30

Thursday, August 29th 8:30-10:30

Friday, August 30th 8:30-10:30

Your Kindergartener will be invited to attend an orientation to get more comfortable with the school, meet a few teachers, and practice new learning expectations. We will reach out to incoming Kindergarten families to provide a specific date and time for your students’ orientation, as well as an introductory parent-teacher conference. During orientation, students will rotate throughout the building with accompanying staff, and parents will be invited to briefly meet with Admin for general information. We look forward to meeting our new Top Dog families!
