Closures and Delays

School Closures and Delays

We want to operate our schools on their regular schedules whenever possible, but safety is always our highest priority. Sometimes, bad weather or road conditions may require us to delay or close schools.

In those cases, CPSD will notify families and staff through various communication channels:

  • Telephone, email and text notification system
  • FlashAlert Newswire (subscribe for email updates)
  • Social media post
  • Website alert

In the event of a school delay or closure, CPSD will typically operate on the following schedule:

  • Two Hours Late. Buses will begin their first route 2 hours late at regularly scheduled stops, and schools will start 2 hours late.
    • Buses will pick up students two hours later than a regular school day.
    • NO half-day special education preschool, ECEAP or Head Start.
    • NO early release or transition programs.
    • NO out-of-district transportation.
  • Schools Closed. This means all Clover Park schools are closed for all regular and/or special education students.
    • No transportation will be provided to other schools outside of our district even though they may be open and operating on schedule.
    • All scheduled activities are also canceled.
    • District administrative offices will be open, and designated staff are expected to report to work as soon as is safely possible.

Announcements are for one day only.

How should you prepare for changes to the school day?

  • All families should create an emergency weather plan that can be used on short notice.
  • Make sure that your children have an alternate place to stay if you must be at work on a day when school has been delayed or canceled.
